Why I'm building Sparro.
Every month I sit and drag receipts onto the right transactions, one by one. In bookkeeping software that advertises automation.
I run a business myself. It is pure manual labour, and the software doesn't help me with anything to do with the bookkeeping.
Two versions of the same five bank transactions from September. On the left, how it is today: a cursor drags the receipts onto the transactions one by one, and two are still missing. On the right, in Sparro: all five are reconciled with their receipts, without anyone touching them.
How it is today
How it is in Sparro
"When I hear automation, I want the software to automate. Actually automate."
So I built Sparro. Everything I have built makes owning a business easier, in every way.
Nicklas
Admin for Danish small businesses runs itself, and you only hear from Sparro when a decision is yours.
Automation that automates.
The receipt is booked, the reminder is sent and the VAT draft keeps itself up to date. Without you pressing a button.
Danish rules as data.
Every rate, threshold and deadline carries its section of law and the date it was last reviewed. You can always see what Sparro calculates by.
You decide.
Sparro does the work. Anything that needs a decision waits for your yes.
Where Sparro is heading.

Later
A dreamThe big goal.
One day we would like to offer business accounts and credit cards to companies, right inside Sparro. It is an ambition, not a plan with a date.
Your request could be the feature of the month.
Sparro is built for the people who run a business. So they are also the ones who help decide what Sparro does next.
Request
Missing something in Sparro? Say so.
Pool
Your request lands in a shared pool with everyone else's.
Feature of the month
Every month we take up the request most people asked for. We research it and look at how it can be solved.
Estimate and build
If it can be done, it goes into development, and you get an estimate of when it will be ready.
Illustration with examples: three customers each send a request, e.g. "Can I send reminders by text message?". The requests land in a shared pool where similar ones are grouped, and the one most people asked for moves to the top. Each month it becomes the feature of the month and is researched. If it can be done, it goes into development and the person who asked gets an estimate.
A good idea doesn't have to pass through many hands to become real here. It just has to make your day easier.
How we build.
Four choices made up front, so you can hold us to them.
A fair price.
We have chosen to price by what things cost, not by what we could charge for them. Sidehustle costs 0 kr., and every price is on the pricing page.
The rules as data.
Every rate and deadline carries its section of law and the date it was last reviewed. Five of them are right below.
No lock-in. Your data is yours.
Cancel whenever you like. You can export your data as SAF-T, a receipt archive and CSV, even after you cancel.
A draft first, when in doubt.
Uncertain receipts land in your queue. The VAT sits as a draft until you approve it. A system switch isn't booked until you say yes.
The rules live as data. Not buried in the code.
Every rate, threshold and deadline carries its section of law and the date it was last reviewed. Here are five.
Rule: VAT rate
Value: 25%
Legal basis: Momsloven § 33
What usually goes wrong: Unchanged since 1992, and Denmark applies no reduced rates. This is the easy one.
Rule: VAT registration threshold
Value: 50.000 kr.
Legal basis: Momsloven § 48
What usually goes wrong: Since 1 January 2025 the threshold applies to turnover in one calendar year, not a rolling period. It is the year's total turnover that counts.
Rule: Retention of records
Value: 5 years
Legal basis: Bogføringsloven § 12
What usually goes wrong: Five years counted from the end of the financial year the record belongs to. Not from the record's own date.
Show all five
Rule: Instant write-off of small assets
Value: 36.000 kr.
Legal basis: Afskrivningsloven § 6
What usually goes wrong: The amount is indexed every year. In 2025 it was 34.400 kr. Use last year's figure and you deduct the wrong amount.
Rule: Labour market contribution
Value: 8%
Legal basis: Arbejdsmarkedsbidragsloven § 1
What usually goes wrong: Calculated on pay after ATP and pension, not on gross salary. Calculate it on gross and you overcharge every month.
All five were checked in August 2026.
